SOUTH AFRICA Vs SRILANKA: FIRST TEST

SOUTH AFRICA Vs SRILANKA

SRILANKA TOUR OF SOUTH AFRICA 2019 | FIRST TEST | KINGSMEAD, DURBAN | SA Vs SL | February 13, 2019 @ 1:30 PM IST|

After a forgettable Australian series, Srilanka are now in the Proteas soil to play 5 ODIs, 2 Tests and 3 T20s.The inaugural test of the tour begins on Feb13. South Africa are fresh from their admirable performance against Pakistan and are expected to make it a one sided affair against Srilanka. Srilankan cricket has been going through a lean patch after the retirement of some of their greats.
Kingsmead pitch may offer some assistance for the spinners and that can bring some solace for the visitors. Keshav Maharaj can be of some assistance if the pitch turns out to be spin friendly. But again Faf DuPlesi may go with a all pace attack because of the vulnerability of Lankan batsmen against pace and swing.

TEAM INFO:

·      Dimuth Karunaratne will be the skipper for Srilanka after Dinesh Chandimal was dropped due to poor form.
·      Milinda Siriwardana, who played the last of his five Tests in 2016 has been included in the squad
·       Lakshan Sandakan is the lead spinner for Srilanka in this series.
·      Faf DuPlesi returns to the SA squad after missing last Test match against Pakistan.

Despite a breezy half century from Smrithi Mandhana in the first T20 against New Zealand, the Indian women could not chase down the target set by the hosts. The middle order collapsed without any fight back .Mithali Raj was rested and Captain Harmanpreet suggested that she was building a team for the future.
